Drawn from the house's earliest 1-series (1989-1991), this Medium Vertical Flap Bag is a rare early example of Chanel's use of caviar leather, its vertical quilting and gold-tone CC turnlock offering a quieter, more architectural read on the Classic Flap.
The bag is crafted in vertically quilted caviar leather with a gold-tone CC turnlock and a chain-and-leather shoulder strap. It measures 25.4cm in width, 15.9cm in height and 6.4cm in depth (10" x 6.25" x 2.5"), with a strap drop of 40.6cm, or 22.9cm doubled (16", 9" doubled).
Vintage, in excellent condition according to the supplied product information: the bag is slightly relaxed in shape and structure, with no plastic remaining on the hardware. There are visible scratches to the turnlock and shoulder strap hardware, with tarnishing throughout the strap fittings. The exterior leather shows rubbing around the bottom corners, flap edging and strap leather, with some creasing near the slip pocket and minor wrinkling to the base. The interior leather shows some fading, scuffing and rubbing throughout, and the date stamp sticker is cracking but remains legible.
